As the world leader in fine zinc powder production, Umicore Zinc Chemicals is continuously striving for new types of zinc metal powders. We have now commercially launched the nano zinc powder NOZIP® .
NOZIP® is a homogenous NanO ZInc Powder, consisting of spherical (loosely) agglomerated particles of about 100 nm (0,1 µm). This is 25 times smaller than the size of the smallest commercial available zinc powder. After sonication in an organic solvent, NOZIP® is desagglomerated in its primary nanoparticles of about 35 nm.
This high purity submicron size zinc powder has been developed for the chemical industry. Its high specific surface area and metallic content lead to an excellent reactivity, beneficial in chemical reactions (organic and organometallic synthesis) based on zinc powder. Its reactivity is far beyond the one of current commercial zinc powders.
